Description

Introduction:

The steep gully descending from the Railing pathar into the Konkan, at Pane village near the foothills of fort Raigad is the very majestic Boratyachi Nal. We at Travelarks are going to undertake an exhilarating trek down this Nal on 12th Feb 2010. The route is a very enjoyable one with a couple of exposed traverses adding thrill to the entire experience. (Have a look at the pic here -->)

Next day we would be trekking up the fort Raigad, the Gibraltar of the east and the second Capital of Shivaji Maharaj's Swarajya movement. The fort offers a lot of interesting things for the history enthusiasts as well as adventure seekers.

Transport:
Mumbai - Pune (Semi Luxury Asiad Bus)
Pune - Ghisar (ST bus journey)
Mahad - Mumbai (Asiad / ST bus journey)

Meeting point -
Dadar railway station at 10.30 PM on Thursday, 11th Feb 2010.

Itinerary -

Day 0 - Leave from Mumbai

Day 1 - Friday

 

  • Reach Pune at dawn
  • Bus journey to Velha. Breakfast.
  • Reach Ghisar by bus
  • Trek begins
  • Boratyachi Nal descend and night halt at Pane village

Day 2 - Saturday
  • Tea and breakfast at Pane
  • Trek to Raigad fort
  • Lunch atop Raigad
  • Sight seeing & sunset
  • Night stay atop Raigad

Day 3 - Sunday
  • Breakfast & Tea
  • Cover the remaining portions of the fort
  • Descend to Pachad village
  • Lunch at Mahad
  • Return to Mumbai by 9.00 PM


Expenses includes -
Travelling from Mumbai - Pune - Mahad - Mumbai
All the meals and breakfast during the duration of the trek

Note: Bisleri / Soft Drinks / Non vegetarian meals are not included in the expenses. However, a participant is free to avail these at their personal expenses.

Note: This is a trek and raw essence of the trek would be preserved by adapting to the minimalistic & humble provisions that the place has to offer. We will try and provide you with the best of the available resources, but when you are out to enjoy the wilderness / ruggedness, let the feel take over and enjoy in nature's cradle!

  • A good rucksack
  • Change of clothes, towels, napkins and other clothing as needed
  • Water bottle - 1 litre atleast
  • Torch with spare batteries
  • Warm clothes - woollens, sweaters, shawls
  • Bedding - Sleeping bags, pullovers, chaddars, bedsheet
  • Shoes & change of socks
  • Plate, spoon, glass
  • Personal medication if any
